Many countries especially France did not have labours for the plantation work. therefore there was a slave trade among Europe, america and Africa. French merchants sailed from ports of Nantes and Bordeaux to Africa where the they bought slaves from local chieftains

1.The slave trade began in the 17th century. These was a triangular slave trade started between Europe, Africa and America.

2.The French merchant from the ports of Bordeaux or Nantes reached to the African coast where they purchased slaves from local chieftain.

3.The slaves were shackledand packed into ships for the three months long voyage across the Atlantic to the Carevian.There they were sold to plantation owner.

4 Fort cities like Bordeaux and Nantes got the economic properties due to the slavery trade.

5.The Jacobin regime abolished the slavery in the French colonies.But Napoleon re-introduced it and slavery was finally abolished in 1848
