The tiger hunt proved more beneficial to others because Mrs Packletide had paid a thousand rupees to the villagers for it and the much needed money made the villagers happy. Miss Mebbin, Mrs Packletide's helper too benefited from the tiger hunt. She was the only one who knew that the tiger had died of a heart failure and not because of Mrs Packletide's bullet. She used this knowledge to her benefit by blackmailing Mrs Packletide and extorting money from her.
