The Tonkin free school in Vietnam was established by the French to bring about a French Civilization and to make the Vietnamese know the culture of the French. It was started in the year 1907.
The school had classes on science , hygiene and French in the evening which were to be paid for separately.
The French School encourage the students to follow the Western Culture and look and think 'modern' . So the school encouraged the students to have a short haircut and also had a hair cutting chant .
