In Somebody’s mother by Mary Dow Brine, there is an old lady who is waiting at the crossing.
She is wearing ragged clothes and is lone.
She wants to cross the road and go to the other side but could not do so because of the heavy traffic passing by.
One boy coming from the school helped her to cross the road.
