The time when India was under British Rule, the England faced one of the major revolutions named Industrial. Revolution. The Industrial Revolution demanded for great progress in major progress and heavy profit in field of development. Thus, to fulfill all the demands for increased production, India was used as a slaved land to grow indigo. Britishers tortured and announced the farmers, mainly of Bihar, United Province, Assam, Bengal etc. to grow indigo, poppy, oil crops, tobacco and other cash crops, other than food crops. Though this worsened the economy of Indian farmers, indigo and other were exported to England at low rate.
. Indigo was used as a dyeing substance for coloring linen and cotton cloth, that were also woven in India.
. The quality was quite good and were bought at cheap rates from poor farmers.
. This made British India - a supplier of cash crops to England.
