There were conflicts emerging between the tribal groups of Assam and the British because the Britishers had taken over a lot of lands that belonged to the tribal groups.

By taking over their lands, the British was overstepping on their territory and their incomes as well. For example, the British had started tea plantation in Assam.

After taking over the lands, the people of Assam had to pay extremely high taxes on those lands. A lot of tribal people had migrated and were poor so they couldn't even afford to pay for the taxes. This was also a reason why the tribal groups didn't like the British.
