It was humiliating because the Germans were not invited to the making of the treaty. They were forced to sign it and the Weimar government did not have a choice. The German troops were not allowed in the Rhineland to make the French feel safe from invasion. They also, lost overseas colonies, which made them powerless.

The Treaty of Versailles was a harsh and humiliating on Germany. Germany had lost the WWI. It was forced to sign the treaty. Although there were other countries, the war guilt cause held Germany as the responsible country for causing a lot of damage in the war, as a result it was forced to pay a large compensation.
