Why was Zamindari system a curse for the farmers ​

The tax was very high due to which many farmers became landless. The famers has to sell their land which led to the fragmentation of land. In the zamindari system, were considered as the head who had the supreme power to overrule the farmers. A large part was given to British and rest was of the zamidars.
