Why wasn’t hydrogen given a fixed position in mendelevs periodic table

It is so because hydrogen has 1 valence electron in its outermost shell.so according to modern periodic table, hydrogen can be arranged in halogen family i.e. group no. ... Hence, it was placed in IA group VI B group and could not be given a fixed position in Mendeleev's Periodic Table

Hydrogen is a metal which shows same properties as of halogens like Cl, F, etc and with alkali metals like Na, K, etc. That is why no fixed position was given to hydrogen in Mendeleev's periodic table & That's the Limitations of Mendeleev's periodic table .
