The water hyacinth was introduced in Bengal . It is very beautiful flower,but it turned out to be an invasive weed draining oxygen from water bodies and resulted in devastation of fish strokes.
1 meter (3 feet) in height. The leaves are 10–20 cm (4–8 inches) across on a stem which is floating by means of buoyant bulb-like nodules at its base above the water surface. They have long, spongy and bulbous stalks.
