why water in sea will appear as blue and why sky also
Answers
Explanation:
The ocean looks blue because red, orange and yellow (long wavelength light) are absorbed more strongly by water than is blue (short wavelength light). So when white light from the sun enters the ocean, it is mostly the blue that gets returned. Same reason the sky is blue."
✳ Why water in sea will appear as blue and why sky also ?
➡ We know that water has no color, it's transparent, but in a sea the color is appears due to the refraction of light ,same is with sky also.
Sky is rarer & sea of is denser so due to refraction of light it seems to be blue by the use of Snell's Law.
Refraction of Light :-
Refraction is the change in direction of a wave passing from one medium to another or from a gradual change in the medium.
Laws of refraction state that :-
- The incident ray, refracted ray, and the normal to the interface of two media at the point of incidence all lie on the same plane.
- The ratio of sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is a constant. This is also known as Snell’s law of refraction.
- Snell's law states e = sin i / sin r .
