Thus, water is a compound. It's also a molecule, which is any chemical species formed by two or more atoms chemically bonded to each other.

Hey!!
Here is the answer..

Water is everywhere as we all know.
It is one of the basic element of our life. However, water is a chemical compound.

First of all,
 \boxed{What \: is \: compound ?}

Compound is formed when 2 or more elements are combined ( chemically ) by acceptance, donating or sharing of the electrons.

Similarly , The Water is formed when from 2 elements that is an Hydrogen ion (H+) combines with an hydroxide ion(OH-).
Hence,we can't call it as a mixture.

In more simpler language, we can say that
Since, a water molecule is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom it's a compound and not a mixture.

Hence we can conclude that,
Water is a compound and not a mixture.

This is the answer.
I hope it helps you.
