why water is not used in a fire caused due to chemical substances

The fires caused by the electrical short circuit in an electrical appliance or in electric wiring should not be extinguished by throwing water.Because ordinary waterconducts electricity.So when water is thrown over the burning electricalappliance,it can give electric shock to the person involved in the firefighting

the water is not used because the ordinary water conducts electricity and there is a chance of getting shock.like salt water or the water full of impurities
