Water kept in earthen pot (matka) becomes cool  during summers because it has tiny pores on its surface from where the water seeps out and evaporates because of the heat. Evaporation causes cooling effect, hence making the water inside the pot cool.....hope this helps.....do rate and comment if this helps you.....and, don't forget to mark as brainiest if this helps you.......

Earthen pots have small small holes called pores.when water is kept in earthen pot the water seeps into the holes, which makes the process of evaporation easy.since evaporation takes the heat from the surface of the pot the water becomes cool.
