why water remain cool when we put in an earthen pot during sumer?

The earthen pot helps in evaporation or we can say that thermal energy is continuously looses by water in earthen pot which makes it cool.

Water looses its temperature through small pores present in the pot. Hence in an earthen pot (matka) become cool during summer.
