why watermelon contain more water
Answers
. watermelons… and pie melons and their close relatives such as the Kalahari melon… are native to Africa south of the Sahara desert. These warm lands are subject to seasonal rains and drought. The survival and distribution strategy of these melons is to embed their seeds in a water reservoir and then ripen the fruit into the drought time. Great big animals such as elephants and warthogs will want water, especially with sweetness, so in drought time they will seek these out and break into them for their life-giving moisture. And in eating this fruit and slurping up the juices, a lot of hard shelled seeds will be swallowed. Many of these will later be passed out unharmed in the droppings of the animal. Then in the rainy season the seeds will grow in a nice pile of manure to get a good start and the next generation will grow in a new place.
