Why we add ioc acid as a suffix in iupac name of carboxylic acid?

➡️We use suffix oic acid not ioc acid.
We use it to classify that the compound is belong to carboxylic group.
◆Actually IUPAC naming is used to determine the homologous family of compound by knowing only it's name like-
Methanol:- Alcohol
Methanal:-Aldehyde
propanoic Acid:-carboxylic Acid.
