as we eat the food enters the food pipe. in the food pipe there is a small curve like structure called epiglottis.
this epiglottis closes the wind pipe and open the food pipe when we eat.
when we breathe the epiglottis closes the food pipe and opens the wind pipe

Answer:

It is advised not to talk while we are eating because when we are breathing the epiglottis opens, when we eat it close down, but when we talk while eating the epiglottis remain open and there are chances that food may enter windpipe, which may cause severe coughing in order to throw the food out of the trachea and it may cause death.

The epiglottis is a valve, which is present at the junction of the food pipe and windpipe, which opens and closes at the time of breathing.
