We are better, because we and we alone have the potential to be better. It a matter of ability. Humans hold the distinct position of stewards of the earth; that stewardship is unique to us and us alone and it isn't because, God granted us this position, although it wouldn't matter if that was the case, it is because we are the only living beings up to the challenge. We are the only being that can forgo our biological determinism in any meaningful way.

Therefore (human beings)/we regarded as better than animal.
