when we eat sugar the odor of sugar travel up to the olfactory epithelium where they activate odor receptor.
but whenever we block our nose the odor of sugar can't travel up to receptor it is crucial to oyt sense of flavour.
But when you eat sugar you know the taste is sweet because you are watching that what u are eating if u close your eyes than u can't make a difference b/w sugar and any other sweet food

Hi friend

If we block our nose while eating, then it's like blocking our olfactory mucosa, and not allowing ourself to get the flavour of the food. Hence, it affects the odour receptors from doing their function.
If olfactory mucosa is blocked then it affects the taste too thus making our food not much flavourful and it doesn't give us the taste.

Hope this helps you
