I am, as I type this, sitting in an airport in Toronto waiting for my connecting flight to New York. I just flew from Vancouver to Toronto.
The airplane I was on was traveling at more than 500 miles per hour, or so they tell me. I got up to use the loo. I jumped. I came down in the same place.
If the airplane was really traveling at over 500 miles per hour, when I jumped up, why didn't it move underneath me?
Because I was traveling at the same speed it was.
Most kids learn this at about the same time they go into grade school. I'm mystified that some people don't.
