why we are writing t-sunam?? why we are not writing sunami (without T)??

HEY DEAR....
HERE'S WHY ⬇
So the whole word is pronounced as SUNAMI and not TSUNAMI. The T is silent like in....well, let's say for example, KNIFE, where K is silent. Similarly. And the T cannot be omitted because the Japanese translation will be correct only with T (in Japanese it's actually harbor wave. So in order to mean the same.....).
I don't know how to explain it better.
