Obviously the person who asked this question is not a Malayali and he/she does not know Malayalam.
Adding (sandhi) of two words ‘Malayalam’ and ‘Naadu’ does not make ‘Malayalam Naadu’, the correct form is ‘MalayaaLanaadu’.
The word is not an official way of describing Kerala. It is just another name, not to be equated to Tamil Naadu.
The word simply means “area where Malayalam is spoken widely”. Don’t ask these types of questions to find out whether Keralites are like Tamil secessionists. They are not. Kerala is a fine name for the state.
