Why we call take tea not drink tea? ​

because We suck tea and do not drink.

and we know.. because tea is used as a restorative, so you take it like you take medicine, you don't drink medicine do you.

Taking tea in the UK is also a social ritual, not just a drink to slake your thirst. Not quite as elaborate as the Japanese rituals though.
