why we can smell hot food from distance than cold food .

Smell is actually caused by the food particle vapours that r caught by the receptors in the nose and via the olfactory nerve.. transmitted to the brain.

Thus hot food releases vapours more rapidly as compared to cold food.. hence the difference.

This is because of DIFFUSION
the particles on heating move and strike faster which increases their BROWNIAN MOTION
Particles from one place diffuse to another place
