You can use gravity oil separator (API separator) which sizing follows the "free sedimentation" law with the addition of a deformation coefficient of the oily particles.

The API (American Petroleum Institute) recommends the use of the following equation for the oil ascensional rate in m/h:

oil ascensional rate=0.443*(oil relative density - water relative density)/(water viscosity in poise)

The oil "particle" diameter is taken >= 0.15 mm and the water and oil density have to be preferably determined in laboratory.

The oil separator efficiency can be enhanced using PPI (parallel plate interceptor) with a slope of 45°.

The floated oil can be removed from the surface of the disoleator through a spillway.
