Why we can't use mercury thermometer for high temperature?

it shows ununiform expansion at higher temperature that's why we use alcohol

It might show inconstant measures at higher temperatures and the thermometer may burst out if used to measure very high temperatures....so using alcohol thermometer is the best option....
