becoz there is no any media to propagate the sound. simly thats it....

Let me tell you that sound needs medium to travel from the source of sound to our ear because sound is created by vibrations and vibrations need medium to travel . So , on moon we cannot hear any sound . Therefore , astronauts communicate to each other by signals or microphones in space even they are more closer
