why we classifiy vertbrates and nonvertebrates on the basis of vertebral coloumn why we not choose other character ..??plss dont give stupid answer plss give better answer i will mark as brainlist if ur answer such a great

actually they have similar properties to that of vertebrates except for a vertebral coluumn that some dont have or that some organisms from that category have in a certain period of their lifespan, so we take the vertebra as a differentiating point

Because they are classified mainly by the presence of vertebral column, vertebrate-animals with back bone and invertebrate -animals do not have back bone ,vertebral column is the special feature present only in vertebrates ex-birds are vetebrates and molluscs are invertebrate the main difference between them is spine, cannot be differentiated in any other way
