Why we destroy environment?

Whilst most people do not deliberately intend to destroy the natural world in order to gain monetary wealth, most people certainly do prioritize monetary wealth higher than they prioritize the natural world.

I often try to understand why many people spend their entire lives accumulating useless wealth. I believe that it is just survival instinct gone wrong. In the wild, predators sometimes go on killing sprees. There is a record for example of one caracal killing thirty nine sheep in one night. The problem is that many predators' blood lust only calms once their bellies are filled.

I wonder if the problem is that people are no longer being satiated when they have had enough. We need to teach ourselves to recognize when we have killed enough and our bellies are full.

I have the utmost respect for those who create wealth and then spend their lives using it wisely to improve the world around them. However, they are actually very few and the amount they spend on our world is a pittance.

Frugality is no longer deemed to be a virtue.
