Why we do not clean ponds or lakes, but an aquarium needs to be cleaned. why?

Good question, But reason is simple.... Ponds laked.. etc are at hand of nature whereas at our hosuse we need to clean and protest theie live so./
You dont have to change water or clean an aquarium if you have soil and good amount of plants in it. You would just have to refill the evaporated water. Cleaning the tank once in a month will still benefit the fishes..... (saying frm experience)

Aquarium needs to be cleaned regularly because it is man made and is an artificial ecosystem. Therefore, recycling of waste from fishes or other aquatic organisms do not take place. Also wind cannot reach there. Due to these reason BOD will increase and DO2 will decrease which may result into death of fishes and other organisms. Moreover the feed given to fishes are not consumed totally.So these also adds to pollution. Gradually water starts to stagnate and become breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects.
But these things do not occur in case of ponds or lakes, as they are open , can receive direct sunlight and exposure to wind. Continuosly O2 is dissolving in water. Recycling of minerals and waste going on. Aquatic plants also aids in increase in level of DO2. Therefore, cleaning is required in aquarium but not in ponds or lakes.
