Fish are consumed widely aound the world.

It is a food rich in protein. However, all fish are not edible.

Some of them like fugu and sushi are highly poisonous, if not prepared properly. Fish such as shark, king mackeral or tilefish contain high level of mercury, thus should be avoided.

Hence, we eat only a few types of fishes.

Nearly 96% of all fish species in the wild are edible. The remaining four percentage of fishes falls under the non-edible species because of their toxicity, tastelessness, and unable to spot easily.

The four percentage of fishes that are not edible are simply termed as trash fishes. Some of them are highly toxic which can induce hallucination, heart attack and even stroke.

Some of the shark species, some Mediterranean fishes, deep sea fishes and arctic fishes fells under trash fishes .
