We find more population in Indo Gangetic plain because it is a fertile plain and therefore agriculture is done. And due to smooth and fertile land population settles there.

This area in south Asia is extrmely fertile and excellent for farming.
This makes the Indo - Gangetic plain a heaven for Indian farmers to grow rice and wheat.
The plains supports high density of population as it is very easy to build on
