why we find the HCF method by prime factors​

The prime factor includes only Prime numbers.

In other words: any of the prime numbers that can be multiplied to give the original number.

Example: The prime factors of 15 are 3 and 5 (because 3×5=15, and 3 and 5 are prime numbers).

STEPS to find highest common factor by using prime factorization method is discussed here.

Step I:

Find the prime factorization of each of the given numbers.

Step II:

The product of all common prime factors is the HCF of the given numbers.

Note:- These two steps are shown in figure.
