why we have to join the metal tip n metal case through wires to join positive and negative terminals to glow up the bulb

we have to join it as if we join the terminals by negative - negative or if positive - positive , it will not glow . As electricity need both positive and negative charge to generate electricity . Hence the terminals are joined as negative and positive and there is a glow of the bulb .
