when we are imagining a number to be rational, it should be possible to express the number in p/q form where p and q are integers and q is not equal to zero.

for this we have to express the number in fraction of co primes i.e., they are reduced to their least possible number by dividing with their HCF. This is necessary to say that √5 is rational.

Here a and b can also be the same as p and q.
