Why we keep phosphorus in the water ??????

phosphorus reacts vigorously with oxygen in the air.
it may catch fire when exposed to air
it is stored in water to prevent its contact with atmospheric oxygen.
(it is not soluble with water)

phosphorous is kept in water because it ignite in contact with air. if we handle it carelessely aur it contact with skin cause severe burns of skin
