why we measure perpendicular if we have to show root 4.5 on number line
For other irrational numbers such as 5 we have to measure hypotenuse
Why?​

Usually that general method is used for prime rational numbers like 3 ,5 etc so that with that we can apply on other numbers's

but 4.5 is not a prime number and it can be expressed as

3*3*1/2 and they are all prime

so mainly prime factors' roots are taken for definition and theorems and proofs
