for a 3 digit decimal number, you need to multiply 1000 to make that number an integer

now,

  • use 10 for a 1 digit decimal number
  • use 100 for a 2 digit decimal number
  • use 10000 for a 4 digit decimal number

say a number is 8.557

here,

we multiply by 1000

that is,

8.557×1000=8557
