Electroplating is a process that uses an electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode .
non metals are poor conduct .

Electroplating involves depositing one metal which is connected to the anode on to another metal which is connected to the cathode. This is the plating of a metal over other metal. It can be used to increase corrotion resistance

eg:Chromium Plating

Electro plaring is mainly done on metals because its easy to plate metals on metals than we do on non metals.

Non-metals such as glass, plastic can be electroplated after they have been coated with a conductive paint.
