That is true as even when our MUSCLES aren't active (that's what you mean when you say we don't do any apparent activity), the rest of our body is sure active. The heart is beating, our respiratory functions are going on, the brain is also functioning, the walls of the digestive tract are absorbing nutrients form the food you ate, and there are a million more examples of what is going on inside our bodies when we aren't physically active. Hence, we need energy even when we don't do apparent activity.

We need energy even if we're not doing aparent activities because the internal part like heart, respiratory organ is always working .it required energy to work maintaning a constant internal temperature allows mammals or birds to carry out body pressure more effectively but it is requies more energy
