Democracy can simple be defined as a system under people's rule, typically through elected representatives. This definition categorizes, every country holding election as a democracy, which could be misleading. It doesn't take into consideration if every section of society is being represented equally in parliament or level of power distribution within the government. Most countries around the globe would like to label itself a democracy which would be far from reality. To avoid any misuse of the term, we need to define democracy as a system where people can elect their representative without being put through outside pressure and power should lie among elected representatives alone.
