Why we need to loosen the soil before sowing

The process of loosening and turning up of the soil is called tilling or ploughing.

Lossening of soil by ploughing has the following advantages :
1. It permits easy and deeper penetration of the roots.
2. It provides good aeration of the roots.
3. Turning and lossening of soil brings nutrient rich soil to the top so that plants can use these nutrients.
