Why we pronounce "the" as "thee" and "a" as "aa" in different sentences?(correct answer only plz)

heya!

pronounciation of different words is different in different cases.

for example., we say p - u - t  as put

                and b - u - t  as but.

this is kinda interesting thing observed in english.

all this is because they are meant to be pronounced in the way which is instructed in phonetics.
