space is a vacuum unlike our atmosphere .

it means that space doesn't have air molecules and suspended particles which are present in our atmosphere , and scatter the light , which results in the color of sky .

so in space , due to lack of any gas or solid particles , the light passes through without scattering , hence the black color of space .

as for the stars , other than sun all the stars are Much farther away , so their light rays do not reach the earth .
