We should discourage rearing of silkworm because it is also a living being and no living being should be hurted in India... Gandhiji said that even an ant should not be killed under Ahimsa philosophy as a proper citizen we should follow the father of our nation and thats y rearing of silkworm must be discouraged.. Moreover the silkworm are now endangered species so to protect silkworm we should not encourage the rearing of silkworm...

Hope it helps u my frnd..

That's a very good question of yours. =D ...Here is the answer --------->

For this question, first we have to know what is ahimsa. Ahimsa is non-voilence, not hurting any living being or showing any form of cruelty. To encourage the ahimsa philosophy we have to discourage rearing of silkworms for silk. For obtaining silk from silkworms, they need to be  killed and as said by Mahatma Gandhi, we have no right to kill any living being if we can't give life to one.If killing silkworms for our benefit, it is a very cruel act. So, if we have follow ahimsa, rearing of silkworms should be discouraged.
