Why we should not go inside a temple during periods?.??

it's almost an ancient tamil belief.One who enters must be pure.
its just science.... they say the women are not supposed to do all the jobs men do because when women lift weights or strain too much, there is a strain in the uterus... and in ancient days temples where mostly situated uphill... therefore to avoid too much strain , women were asked not to enter temples during periods...

In indian mythology it is said that girls who are having periods are impure....and in this situation she should neither touch god nor go to religious places..although these all things are only for sake nothing else made by our society.
just a thought.... so the goddesses never had periods, but had children?
