Hello mate , drain water finally leads to the ocean. These oils when spilt in water tebd to stay afloat as they are more viscous. When this water with oil enters the ocean , the oil does not allow the exchange of gases to occur thus killing the aquatic life.

Hope it helps!!!!

Answer:

Oils and fats harden and block the sewage pipes. In an open drain also, fats block porosity of soil which affects its water filtering efficiency. That is why oils and fats should not be released in the drain.
