Why we should not try to wash off turmeric stain on clothes

It is so because as we know that turmeric is an indicator which changes its yellow colour into reddish brown when come in contact with solution of base. We know that soap solution is base and thus ,when turmeric stain is washed with soap a base turns reddish brown.
