When water evaporates it has a cooling effect. Having a sprinkler on the roof, during the heat of the day, keeps the temperature down inside the house, i had one on my house. Then ceramic paint became an option as the roof needed painting.

Did a temperature test in the middle of the day in the middle of summer. Roofing iron unpainted was between forty and fifty degrees centigrade, tested with an infra red thermometer. Roofing iron that was painted the day after with ceramic paint was at thirty two degrees at the same time of day.
